Rosemary infused olive oil has many benefits, and we can even make it at home. In this article, we explain how to infuse olive oil with rosemary.
Homemade rosemary olive oil
It’s easy to prepare homemade rosemary olive oil, all you need is a little patience. We’ll need to wait while it infuses, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
- Rosemary sprigs. The amount will depend on the size of the jar in which the oil will be infused. For example, use 5 rosemary sprigs for approximately 7 or 8 fl. oz. container. We recommend using a medium-sized glass container (the size of a jam jar) and for the rosemary to fill half of the jar.
- Italica Olive Oil
First, thoroughly wash the rosemary sprigs and allow them to dry. The rosemary needs to be completely dry.
Once the rosemary sprigs are dry, place them in the jar and cover completely with olive oil so it reaches a little past the leaves.
Once the mixture is ready, close the jar and set it aside in a warm, dark place, such as a kitchen cabinet, so the oil infuses properly.
After 30-40 days, transfer the oil into a glass salad dressing cruet with a top. Your tasty homemade rosemary olive oil is now ready for use!

Benefits of rosemary infused olive oil
Adding rosemary infused olive oil to our diet offers many varied benefits. In addition to its culinary properties, here are some of its other uses:
Stimulates hair growth
First, rosemary oil improves circulation. This translates into stronger hair roots that improve the shaft’s structure, especially in the case of hair that breaks easily. It also stimulates growth and reduces hair loss.
A tip? Add a few drops of rosemary oil to your shampoo for hair that stays cleaner longer, for more shine and purified locks.
Improves circulation and delays skin aging
Thanks to its antioxidant properties, rosemary is a star ingredient in cosmetic creams. Some of its components, such as rosmarinic acid, caffeic acid and flavonoids help form new cells and delay skin aging. Simply apply a few drops of rosemary oil to the skin and massage gently in a circular motion to improve circulation.
Helps fight memory loss
From the time of ancient Greece and Rome, it was believed that rosemary helped improve a person’s memory. Over the years, researchers have continued to highlight its therapeutic potential, particularly in Alzheimer’s and memory treatment studies. Inhaling rosemary oil helps prevent acetylcholine from decomposing. This chemical functions in the brain and is important for thought, concentration and memory.
